The clay is formed into a large cup which is shaped from the inside to form the body. The head is then built up on the body and the base is attached. Ten to twelve coats of underglaze are painted on the clay body which is then low fired. Four coats of clear glaze are then applied to the body. The piece is then high fired and is complete.
